How a shared karaoke room works
Every Encoreverse party starts with one stage: a screen, usually a TV, that plays the karaoke videos with lyrics. When you create a room, the stage shows a QR code and a short room code. Each friend joins from their own phone's browser and gets a remote: search for a song, add it to the shared queue, clap, and send emoji to the big screen. The stage plays the queue in order and shows who's up next.
There's no app to download and no account needed, so a friend can go from "what's the link?" to queuing a song in under a minute.
Friends in the same room
- Open karaoke.encoreverse.com on the TV (or a laptop connected to it) and select Create party room. See how to sing karaoke on your TV for every way to connect.
- Tap Tap to start the stage 🔊 so the browser allows sound.
- Friends point their phone camera at the QR code and tap the link, enter a nickname and tap Let's sing!
- Everyone searches and taps Add. ⏫ Next slots a song in right after the current one.
During each song, guests can tap 👏 Clap to fill the applause meter on the TV, and send floating emoji, fireworks or a short message across the screen. A scoreboard keeps track of songs, claps and stars for the night.
Friends in other places
The room code works over the internet, not just on your Wi-Fi. A friend in another city can open karaoke.encoreverse.com, type the room code and choose Join as guest. From there they can queue songs, clap and react just like everyone on the sofa, and their emoji and messages show up on your TV.
Here's the honest part: the music video plays only on the stage screen. Phones are remotes, not players, and Encoreverse doesn't stream or sync the video to each guest. So for faraway friends to actually see the lyrics and hear the music, share the stage on a video call:
- Zoom: open the stage in a browser window on the host laptop, then Share Screen and pick that window. Turn on the option to share sound so the music comes through.
- Google Meet: choose Present now and share the browser tab with the stage; tab sharing in Chrome can include the tab's audio.
- FaceTime: on a Mac, iPhone or iPad you can use SharePlay screen sharing. Check that sound is reaching the call.
Video calls add delay and compress audio, so remote friends will hear things a moment late. It works well for watching, cheering and taking turns. Singing in tight harmony across two cities, less so.
Taking turns when someone remote is singing
When it's a remote friend's turn, they sing into their own call microphone while watching the shared screen. Ask everyone else on the call to mute so the singer isn't drowned out by echo, and have the host keep the stage volume moderate so the call mic doesn't pick up the music twice. Headphones help the remote singer a lot.
Room size and free limits
Hosting and singing are free. Free rooms fit up to 2 guest phones and have a daily allowance of new song searches; the TV pill shows the count, for example Guests 1/2 · Free. Ready-made playlists, popular songs and pasted YouTube links never count toward the search allowance. If more friends need to join, the host can upgrade on the account page; the party guide explains the options.
A friend who is waiting because the room is full keeps trying and gets in automatically when a spot opens.
Tips for a fun online karaoke night
- Send the room code in your group chat before the call starts so people can join early and queue a first song.
- Open with a party game or a ready-made playlist so nobody stares at an empty queue.
- Keep a list of easy crowd-pleasers handy: our best karaoke songs for parties has plenty.
- Use the 👏 Clap button generously. It's the closest thing to an audience cheering from across the country.
Frequently asked questions
Can friends in different places join the same karaoke room?
Yes. Anyone with the room code can join from their phone's browser over the internet, then queue songs, clap and send emoji to the stage screen.
Will remote friends see the lyrics video on their phones?
No. The video plays only on the stage screen. To let faraway friends watch and hear it, share the stage screen on a video call such as Zoom, Google Meet or FaceTime.

Free rooms take up to 2 guest phones. Rooms hosted by a Premium or Party Pass account have no guest limit.
Do my friends need an account or app?
No. They scan the QR code or type the room code in a browser, pick a nickname and start adding songs.
