Why a song queue beats a YouTube playlist

YouTube has a huge library of karaoke and lyric videos, which makes it a great free karaoke source. The trouble starts when a group tries to use it directly: one person holds the remote, everyone shouts song names, and the next video starts with a hunt through search results while the room waits.

A shared song queue fixes that. With Encoreverse, the TV is the stage and every guest's phone is a remote:

  • Everyone adds their own songs from their phone, no passing the remote.
  • The order is fair and visible. The TV shows who's up next.
  • No gaps. When a song ends, the next one in the queue plays.
  • Group controls. ⏫ Next slots a song in after the current one, ⏫ Top moves a queued song to the top, ✖ Remove deletes your own songs, and ⏭ Skip moves on.

Songs play in YouTube's own player, embedded in the stage page.

Set it up in two minutes

  1. Open karaoke.encoreverse.com on your TV or on a laptop connected to it (see karaoke on your TV).
  2. Select Create party room, then Tap to start the stage 🔊 so the browser allows sound.
  3. Guests scan the QR code, enter a nickname and tap Let's sing!
  4. Search a song and tap Add. The TV plays the queue in order.

When a video is skipped

Some YouTube video owners don't allow their videos to be played on other websites. When the stage hits one, it shows "This video can't be played here — skipping" and moves on to the next song automatically, so the party doesn't stall. Karaoke-channel versions usually allow embedding, so search again or paste a different link.

A slow smart-TV browser can also struggle with YouTube. If videos stutter, cast or plug in a laptop instead.

Free search limits, explained

Free rooms have a daily allowance of new searches per room and per guest. Playlists, popular songs and pasted links are always free and unlimited. Premium or a Party Pass removes the search limits for rooms you host; the party guide covers the details.

Keeping the queue moving all night

  • Queue two songs each at the start. A queue that's a few songs deep means no awkward pauses while someone searches.
  • Use ⏫ Next sparingly. It's great for a birthday song or a requested duet, but if everyone jumps the line, the order stops feeling fair.
  • Skip quickly. If a version has a long intro, the wrong key or poor lyrics timing, tap ⏭ Skip and queue a better one rather than suffering through it.
  • Keep the stage tab in front. On a laptop, hiding the stage tab can pause playback or let the device sleep.
  • Mind the volume. Turn up the TV or soundbar rather than the laptop, and if you use karaoke mics, keep them on their own speaker so voices don't lag behind the music.
  • Let the scoreboard do the hosting. Applause and star ratings give the night a natural rhythm, and the 🏆 scoreboard gives everyone a reason to stay for one more song.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use YouTube for karaoke?

Yes. YouTube has many karaoke and lyric videos. Encoreverse plays them in YouTube's own player on your TV and lets everyone add songs to one shared queue from their phones.

Why is a song queue better than a YouTube playlist?

Everyone adds songs from their own phone, the order is fair and shown on the TV, and the next song plays straight away, so nobody has to pass a remote or search between songs.

How do I find karaoke versions on YouTube?

Add "karaoke" to the song and artist, or try "instrumental" or "lyrics". Encoreverse adds "karaoke" for you when the option is ticked, and "KTV 伴奏" for Chinese, Japanese and Korean songs.

Why was a YouTube video skipped?

Some videos don't allow playing on other websites. The stage detects this, shows a message and skips to the next song. Search for another version or paste a different link.

Can I add a specific YouTube video?

Yes. Copy the video link from YouTube, paste it into the link box on your phone and tap Add link. Pasted links don't count toward search limits.
